BETWEEN LIFE AND TEXT: AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL MOTIFS IN IRINA VILDE’S PROSE

Abstract

The article examines the autobiographical dimension of Iryna Vilde’s prose, in particular the mechanisms of penetration of personal experience, private experiences and socio-cultural conditions into the artistic fabric of her works. It analyses how the writer integrates her own biography into the literary narrative, modelling female characters, the space of a Galician city, the issues of family relationships and the traumatic experience of the interwar period. Critical studies that interpret Vilde’s prose as a form of artistic self-expression are summarised, and it is clarified which elements of her life story become structural for the novels ‘The Richynski Sisters,’ the cycle ‘Butterflies on Pins,’ and her early short stories. The article traces the dynamics of the relationship between fact and artistic transformation, and emphasises the importance of autobiographical motifs for the creation of women’s writing and the formation of Vilde’s individual authorial style.
