Abstract
The article attempts to analyse the scientific works of theorists of children’s biographies in order to clarify the specifics of the genre of illustrated encyclopaedias. The analysis gives grounds to assert that N. Marchenko is currently working fruitfully in this field. An aspect analysis of the historian’s works shows that the narrative should be consistent with the age-related psychological characteristics of the recipients, and the book should be based on facts that highlight the protagonist of the story as an interesting personality. The publication should be illustrated or contain additions such as games, films, etc.
